Learning to Be Grateful
Nowadays, young people tend to lack awareness of gratitude. They take others' care, help and service for granted and become too mean to say "Thank you!" in their daily life. Many reasons can account for their lack of such consciousness. The most important one is that parents pay too much attention to their children's school performance. They try to do everything else for their children, who get increasingly insensitive to others' care and help. As a result, their sense of gratitude disappears.
Measures should be taken to get rid of this phenomenon. First, moral education should be improved to create a thank-you atmosphere in schools and communities as well as at home. Second, the young people should get themselves out of their self-centeredness and learn to say "Thank you!" whenever they get help from others. With all these measures, I believe, the younger generation will soon build up their awareness of gratefulness.
